Chapter 2 - The Empty Throne

Giulietta stared at her phone as the words echoed in her mind.
Her father, the untouchable Don of the Marconi family, was gone.
She looked back at Warren Hale, who was now trembling uncontrollably on the floor.
"You knew about this," she said coldly.
Warren shook his head violently, swearing on his life that he had nothing to do with the ambush.
Preston groaned on the sofa, clutching his bruised ribs.
"We only stole the money, Giulietta, we didn't touch your father!" Preston cried out.
Giulietta did not believe a single word coming from their mouths.
She ordered her capos to lock the Hales in the hotel basement until she found out the truth.
She changed out of her wedding dress and put on a dark suit.
The Marconi family needed a leader right now, and she was the only heir left.
She drove straight to the ambush site on the highway.
The burning wreckage of her father's armored SUVs lit up the night sky.
Police had not arrived yet because her men had locked down the entire perimeter.
She walked through the smoke, searching for any sign of her father's body.
There was no blood inside the main vehicle.
Her father had been taken alive.
She noticed a shiny object lying in the ashes near the car door.
It was a solid gold cufflink shaped like a wolf.
May you like
Giulietta felt her blood turn to absolute ice.
That cufflink belonged to her uncle, the man who was supposed to be guarding her father tonight.
