Chapter 10 - The Queen of the Empire

Giulietta slammed her fist into Silvio's face, knocking him completely unconscious.
She grabbed his phone from his pocket and found the tracking app he used for his hidden safe houses.
The warehouse was located right across the narrow river channel, less than a mile away.
She did not wait for Dante or the rest of her men.
She started the speedboat's engine and pushed the throttle to the absolute maximum.
The boat tore across the dark water, flying over the waves as the cold wind whipped her face.
She looked at the timer on Silvio's phone.
She had exactly two minutes and ten seconds left.
She crashed the boat violently into the wooden docks of the abandoned industrial park.
Giulietta sprinted toward the largest warehouse, shooting the padlock off the heavy metal doors.
She threw the doors open and found her father tied to a steel chair in the center of the room.
He was beaten and bloody, but he was alive.
"Giulietta, get out of here!" her father shouted hoarsely.
"There is a bomb under the floorboards!"
She ran to him, pulling a combat knife from her boot and slashing through the thick ropes.
"I am not leaving you again," she promised, helping him to his feet.
They could hear the electronic timer beeping rapidly from the basement below them.
Thirty seconds left.
She threw his arm over her shoulder and practically carried him toward the exit.
They burst out of the warehouse doors and dove into the freezing water of the river.
Three seconds later, the entire building exploded in a massive ball of orange fire.
The shockwave pushed them underwater, but they held their breath and swam safely toward the docks.
When they finally pulled themselves out of the water, Dante and the street soldiers were waiting to help them up.
Her father looked at Giulietta, seeing the fire and the absolute ruthless strength in his daughter's eyes.
The Hales were destroyed, Silvio was captured, and the Marconi empire was finally hers to command.
Giulietta had won the war and saved her family.
The next morning, she walked into Silvio's private office to burn his old documents.
She found a locked steel safe hidden behind a painting on the wall and forced it open.

Inside was her mother's official death certificate, proving she had not died of a sudden illness as Giulietta had been told for years.
Her mother was brutally poisoned, and the signature authorizing the cover-up belonged to Giulietta's own father.
