Chapter 9 - The Screaming Truth.

The surveillance monitors showed a cloud of white smoke filling the center of the living room.
Chloe stumbled backward, clutching her shoulder as dark blood began to soak through her expensive designer shirt.
Richard stood completely frozen in shock, the smoking rifle slipping from his trembling hands and clattering to the floor.
Jason cowered in the corner, screaming hysterically at the terrifying violence unfolding in front of him.
The front door suddenly exploded inward as heavily armed tactical officers stormed the house.
They quickly tackled Jason to the ground and aggressively secured Chloe with heavy steel handcuffs.
Paramedics rushed into the room to treat Chloe’s gunshot wound, which was entirely superficial but bleeding heavily.
Richard did not resist arrest, simply raising his hands and weeping silently for the family he had just lost forever.
I stepped out of the surveillance van and walked slowly toward my former home.
Detective Bennett escorted me through the shattered front door and into the chaotic living room.
Jason was sitting handcuffed on the sofa, still weeping and claiming he was a victim of his sister's manipulation.
He looked up and saw me standing there, perfectly healthy and staring at him with absolute disgust.
His eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated terror as his brain tried to process the impossible sight.
He let out a blood-curdling scream, believing for a split second that he was looking at a vengeful ghost.
I walked over to the fake body bag on the floor and aggressively kicked it aside.
I leaned down until my face was only inches away from my trembling, pathetic husband.
I coldly thanked him for leaving me alone for seventy-four days.
I told him that the isolation had finally given me the strength I needed to completely destroy his life.
Jason sobbed uncontrollably as the police dragged him out of the house and threw him into the back of a squad car.

Chloe glared at me with pure, unrepentant hatred as she was loaded into a heavily guarded ambulance.
The horrific nightmare was finally over, and I had survived the darkest betrayal imaginable.
