Chapter 7 - The Mastermind.
I stared at the corrupt officer in absolute shock as the horrific truth sank in.
Chloe was the true mastermind behind the entire plot to have me murdered.
The officer explained that Jason was too cowardly and foolish to orchestrate such a complex crime.
Chloe had manipulated her brother into taking out the massive life insurance policy.
She had personally hired the property manager to lock the doors and shut off the water.
She was the one pulling all the strings from Europe, ensuring her family remained completely oblivious.
I kept the gun aimed at the officer and forced him to use his own radio to call Detective Bennett.
Within an hour, the detective arrived with a heavily armed tactical team to arrest her corrupt colleague.
Detective Bennett was furious that her own department had been compromised by a greedy subordinate.
She assured me that the dirty cop would spend the rest of his life in federal prison.
With the immediate threat neutralized, we focused entirely on the approaching deadline.
The seventy-fourth day was rapidly approaching, and the family was scheduled to fly back to America.
Jason and Chloe fully expected to walk into a house that smelled of death and decay.
We decided to give them exactly what they were expecting, but with a devastating twist.
The police forensic team spent the next two days transforming my empty house into a perfectly staged crime scene.
They used specialized chemicals to simulate the foul odor of a body that had been decomposing for months.
They placed a heavily wrapped, weighted dummy in the exact spot where I had originally collapsed.
Hidden cameras and microphones were installed in every single room to capture the upcoming confrontation.
On the morning of the seventy-fourth day, I sat in the surveillance van parked three streets away.
My hands trembled as I watched the live video feed of a black town car pulling into my driveway.
Jason and Chloe stepped out of the vehicle, both wearing dark sunglasses and somber expressions.
May you like
Jason placed his key into the front door lock, completely unaware that he was stepping into a massive federal trap.
But as the heavy door swung open, the hidden cameras revealed something that made Detective Bennett scream in panic.
