Chapter 9 - The Arrest

Dozens of armed police officers flooded the rooftop within minutes.
They slapped heavy steel handcuffs on Bradley and dragged him to his feet.
He glared at me with pure hatred as they read him his rights.
They also arrested the wealthy buyer and escorted them both into the elevator.
A team of paramedics rushed toward me with a stretcher and warm blankets.
They gently loaded my baby into a secure mobile crib.
They helped me onto the stretcher, administering pain medication for my torn stitches.
Marcus walked beside my stretcher as we descended back into the hospital.
The nightmare was finally over.
The corrupt men who tried to destroy my family were going to federal prison.
I held my baby's tiny hand, feeling a profound sense of peace.
We bypassed the emergency room and headed straight toward a secure VIP exit.
Marcus told me that the hospital was swarming with aggressive reporters.
He insisted that I needed to recover in absolute privacy.
A luxurious black ambulance was waiting for us at the loading dock.
Marcus instructed the paramedics to load me and the baby inside.
He climbed into the back of the ambulance and closed the heavy doors.
The vehicle sped away from the hospital, driving into the quiet, dark city.
I leaned my head back, finally allowing exhaustion to claim my body.
I asked Marcus which safehouse facility we were going to.
May you like
Marcus did not answer immediately.
He walked over to the partition window and locked it from the inside.
