Chapter 7 - The Hostile Transfer

Strobe lights flashed wildly in the server room, casting terrifying red shadows across the walls.

I snatched the burner phone from the computer terminal, securing the irrefutable evidence of their crimes in my pocket.

I knew the security teams would sweep the basement first, so I ducked into the maze of the hospital's massive laundry chutes.

I crawled upward through the dark, suffocating metal tunnels, relying on pure adrenaline to fuel my exhausted muscles.

I climbed until I reached the executive VIP wing on the top floor of the hospital.

I knew this was the only secure location where they could be holding my baby before the official transfer to Sophie's lab.

I kicked out the heavy ventilation grate and dropped silently onto the plush carpet of the luxurious hallway.

The corridor was empty, but I could hear muffled voices coming from behind the double oak doors of the presidential suite.

I crept forward, pressing my face against the small crack between the heavy wooden doors.

Cameron was standing over a state-of-the-art sterile incubator, holding a small syringe used for drawing bone marrow.

He was talking enthusiastically to a wealthy, older investor wearing a bespoke suit, who was clearly funding the entire illegal operation.

I strained my eyes, desperately trying to see the face of the mysterious billionaire financing my destruction.

"The stem cells are perfectly viable, sir, just as we planned," Cameron said, bowing his head respectfully.

The older man chuckled, a deep, raspy sound that instantly made my stomach churn with horrible familiarity.

"I told you the girl's genetics were flawless, Cameron," the billionaire replied smoothly.

The man slowly turned around to admire the baby in the incubator, stepping fully into the light.

My blood ran absolutely cold, and the air was violently stolen from my lungs.

I recognized the cold, calculating eyes and the sharp jawline of the ruthless corporate tycoon.

The man who orchestrated the theft of my child, the man who paid for my permanent imprisonment, was my own estranged father.
