Chapter 12 - The Ghost of the Crash

Agent Harris immediately set up a secure, heavily encrypted mobile command center right at my kitchen table.
He furiously typed on his federal laptop, aggressively pulling up the original police reports and medical examiner files from the night of the crash.
I paced back and forth across the hardwood floor, my mind violently flashing back to the absolute worst night of my entire life.
I remembered the blinding rain, the devastating phone call from the state police, and the terrifying sight of my crushed, completely burned-out SUV.
The police had told me that Chloe died instantly on impact before the vehicle caught fire.
Because of the severe thermal damage, I was heavily advised to have a closed-casket funeral to spare myself the horrific trauma.
I had trusted the authorities completely, never once questioning the devastating reality they presented to me.
Agent Harris suddenly stopped typing and let out a sharp, incredibly heavy sigh.
He turned his glowing laptop screen toward me, displaying the digital profile of the county medical examiner who had signed my daughter's death certificate.
The man had been officially stripped of his medical license exactly one month after Chloe's funeral.
He was currently serving a massive federal sentence for accepting heavy bribes to forge autopsy reports for a violent criminal syndicate.
The sickening truth was absolutely undeniable.
Irene had aggressively utilized her vast, highly illegal underworld connections to completely stage the fatal car accident.
She had paid the corrupt medical examiner to officially declare my daughter dead using highly fabricated dental records.
I felt a massive, completely uncontrollable surge of pure, unadulterated fury completely consume my entire soul.
Irene had not just tried to steal my money and my business; she had violently stolen my absolute reason for living.
I looked at Agent Harris, my eyes burning with a fierce, completely unstoppable maternal determination.
I told him that I was absolutely going to the maximum-security federal penitentiary to confront Irene right now.

Agent Harris warned me that Irene was a highly dangerous, incredibly manipulative sociopath who would only use the visit to torture me further.
I calmly grabbed my heavy coat and told him that she was going to tell me exactly who she sold my daughter to, or I would completely tear the truth out of her myself.
