Chapter 4 - The True CEO

The undeniable video evidence played on a continuous loop on the massive screen.
My mother covered her mouth, unable to formulate a single excuse to defend her golden child.
Aidan looked around the room, realizing his carefully crafted reputation was disintegrating by the second.
"Fine, it was a childish prank that went a little too far," my father admitted through gritted teeth.
"But you are still my daughter, Mabel, and you will call off this ridiculous attack right now."
I stared at the man who had emotionally abused me for three decades.
"I am not calling off anything, Aidan, because you have not even begun to pay for your cruelty," I replied coldly.
Aidan puffed out his chest, resorting to his favorite method of control.
"If you do not leave this hotel right now, I will personally ensure you are fired from your pathetic little desk job," my father threatened.
He worked as the regional director for a massive logistics firm, and he had pulled strings to get me a low-level clerical position there.
He always used my job as a weapon to keep me poor, compliant, and terrified.
Julian looked at me and offered a genuinely amused smile.
"Did you not tell him, my love?" Julian asked, feigning innocent surprise.
"Tell me what?" Aidan snapped, his patience completely evaporating.
I took a deep breath, savoring the absolute power of this beautiful moment.
"I do not work at the front desk anymore, Father," I said smoothly.
Aidan scoffed loudly, crossing his arms over his chest.
"What, did they finally promote you to the mailroom?" he mocked cruelly.
Julian stepped forward, pulling a crisp, officially sealed document from the inner pocket of his suit.
"Yesterday morning, Vanguard Holdings executed a hostile takeover of your logistics firm," Julian announced.
Aidan's arrogant smirk instantly vanished from his face.
"As part of my wedding gift to my beautiful wife, I transferred the majority shareholder rights directly to Mabel," Julian continued.
My mother let out a strangled gasp, clutching the edge of a table for support.
"That is completely impossible," Aidan whispered, reaching out with trembling hands to read the document.
Julian held the paper up, showing my father my official signature listed under the title of Chief Executive Officer.
"She is not a clerk, Aidan, she is your ultimate superior," Julian stated with absolute finality.
Aidan's knees visibly buckled as the full weight of his horrific situation crashed down upon him.
He had just spent the last twenty minutes publicly humiliating the new owner of his entire company.
"Mabel, sweetheart, you know I was only joking earlier," my father stammered, his voice cracking with sheer panic.
"You are fired, Aidan," I said softly, but the words echoed like gunshots in the quiet room.

Before Aidan could even beg for his pension, a pair of sharp, authoritative voices interrupted the scene.
Marcus's parents emerged from the shadows of the hallway, looking completely enraged.
