Chapter 2 - The Eviction

The silence in the ballroom was so heavy that you could actually hear a pin drop.
My father stared at Julian with his mouth hanging wide open in utter disbelief.
"You bought the Boston Plaza Hotel just to ruin my daughter's wedding?" Aidan whispered, his face flushing crimson.
Julian pulled me closer to his side, his protective grip making me feel invincible.
"I bought it because the management allowed my wife to be assaulted with a tray of cheap red wine," Julian corrected him smoothly.
Fiona frantically lifted her heavy wedding skirts and rushed toward us.
"Mabel is lying to you, Mr. Vance!" Fiona cried out, her voice dripping with desperation.
"She has always been a delusional gold digger who makes up crazy stories for attention."
Julian did not even dignify her pathetic outburst with a glance.
He snapped his fingers, and one of his massive security guards immediately handed him a leather tablet.
Julian tapped the screen twice and held it up for my father and sister to see.
It was a high-resolution photograph of our official marriage certificate, stamped by the state supreme court.
My cousin Tiffany stepped forward, running a nervous hand through her blonde hair.
"Well, even if you are married, you cannot just throw us out onto the street," Tiffany argued weakly.
"Actually, I can, and I already have," Julian replied coldly.
At that exact moment, the main doors opened again, and a dozen hotel security officers marched into the room.
The head of security blew a loud whistle, demanding everyone's immediate attention.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this event has been officially canceled by the new ownership," the guard announced.
The wealthy guests began to panic, grabbing their expensive coats and rushing toward the exits.
Fiona's groom, Marcus, finally pushed his way through the chaotic crowd.
Marcus came from old money, and his family was supposed to be our ticket to ultimate high society.
But as soon as Marcus locked eyes with Julian, all the color completely drained from his handsome face.
"Mr. Vance, please forgive this massive misunderstanding," Marcus begged, actually bowing his head in submission.
Fiona grabbed her groom's arm, looking at him as if he had lost his mind.
"Marcus, what are you doing, you are richer than he is!" Fiona shrieked hysterically.
Marcus shook her off violently, his eyes filled with absolute terror.
"Shut your mouth, Fiona, before you doom my entire family," Marcus hissed through gritted teeth.
Julian smiled, but the expression was entirely devoid of any warmth or mercy.
"It is incredibly amusing that you think you have any money left, Marcus," Julian said softly.
Marcus fell to his knees right in the middle of the wine-stained marble floor.

Julian looked down at the trembling groom with utter contempt.
"I acquired your family's massive offshore debt this morning, Marcus, and your bank accounts are currently frozen."
