Chapter 8 - The Warehouse Trap

Terrence dove sideways just as a silenced bullet shattered the concrete where he had been standing.

He scrambled behind a massive pile of shipping crates, drawing his own weapon.

Three men in dark tactical gear moved silently through the warehouse, hunting him like prey.

Terrence knew he was outgunned, but he had the advantage of absolute desperation.

He picked up a rusty iron pipe and threw it toward the opposite corner of the room.

The clatter drew the attention of two gunmen, who turned to fire at the noise.

Terrence used the distraction to break cover and sprint toward the nearest exit.

He fired two precise shots on the run, dropping the third gunman before the man could pull his trigger.

He burst through the rusty metal doors and ran into the freezing night air.

He managed to steal a beat-up pickup truck with the keys left in the ignition.

He sped back to the motel, terrified that Sinclair's men had found the girls.

He kicked down the motel room door, his heart hammering in his chest.

Charlotte and Delilah were still hiding safely in the bathtub, exactly where he left them.

Terrence knew they had to deliver the evidence directly to a federal judge who could not be bought.

He drove them to the gated community of Judge Harrison, a man known for his ruthless integrity.

Terrence crashed the truck through the security gate and pounded heavily on the judge's front door.

The judge answered in his bathrobe, shocked by the bleeding officer holding two frightened children.

Terrence shoved the mother's journal and the vial of poison into the judge's hands.

The judge quickly scanned the pages, his expression turning to pure horror.

Then the judge's home phone rang loudly in the hallway.

The judge answered it, listened for a moment, and dropped the receiver.

He turned to Terrence with a grim face and said Delilah's heart monitor just transmitted a flatline signal.
