Chapter 2 - The Blocked Father
Mark felt the blood drain completely from his face as he read the strange name on the document.
He had never heard of a man named Julian Vance in all the years he had known Emily.
He immediately stormed down to the hospital security office, flashing his corporate badge and demanding answers.
He bribed a sympathetic security guard to pull up the surveillance footage from the loading dock.
The grainy video showed Emily being loaded into a private, unmarked ambulance.
A tall, broad-shouldered man in a dark trench coat was walking right beside her stretcher.
Mark paused the video and zoomed in on the man's face, his stomach dropping to the floor.
He recognized the sharp jawline and the distinct scar over the man's left eyebrow.
It was not a stranger at all.
It was Madison's older brother, Julian, a man Mark had not seen since high school.
Panic and confusion slammed into Mark as he realized Madison had deliberately kept him at the country club.
She had planned the cake cutting specifically to keep him away while her brother took his wife.
Mark dialed Madison's number, his hands shaking with uncontrollable rage.
She answered on the first ring with a sweet, innocent voice.
Mark screamed into the phone, demanding to know where Julian had taken Emily and the triplets.
Madison let out a cold, chilling laugh that made the hair on Mark's arms stand up.
