Chapter 4 - The Boardroom Coup

Alessia kicked the shattered glass of the ambulance window repeatedly until the frame bent.
She dragged her unconscious mother out of the wreckage just seconds before the engine caught fire.
The private medical team had clearly been paid off by Evelyn to stage a fatal accident.
Alessia flagged down a passing delivery truck, her expensive designer gown ruined and stained with blood.
She hid Miriam in a remote roadside motel under a fake name to keep her safe.
There was absolutely no time left to cry or panic.
Alessia bought a cheap business suit from a thrift store and marched furiously toward her company headquarters.
She bypassed the locked front lobby doors by using an old service elevator her father had showed her.
She kicked open the heavy oak double doors of the executive boardroom.
The wealthy board of directors gasped loudly as she walked in, covered in bruises and dirt.
Garrett sat at the head of the long table, flanked by his smirking mother, Evelyn.
"Security, please remove this deranged trespasser immediately," Garrett ordered with a lazy wave of his hand.
"I am the majority shareholder of this company, and you are officially fired," Alessia shouted back.
Evelyn stood up slowly and tossed a thick manila folder onto the center of the mahogany table.
"You hold zero shares because you are not Arthur's biological daughter," Evelyn announced loudly.
The board members murmured in shock as they quickly flipped through the certified DNA results.
Alessia stared at the official medical seal, her heart dropping heavily into her stomach.
"Your mother had a filthy affair, making you an illegitimate heir to the empire," Garrett sneered.
Evelyn smiled wickedly and pressed a button on the projector remote.
A high-resolution photo appeared on the screen showing Miriam intimately kissing another man.

Alessia recognized the older man in the photograph immediately.
It was Detective Miller, the lead investigator currently handling her father's unsolved murder case.
