Chapter 8 - The Sniper's Aim
The harsh, blinding spotlight of the helicopter pinned them against the snowy summit like helpless targets.
Richard leaned out of the open cabin, perfectly steadying the heavy sniper rifle against the metal doorframe.
The deafening roar of the helicopter blades completely drowned out any chance of communication.
Elias instantly stepped in front of Elena, raising his hunting rifle in a desperate attempt to return fire.
Richard did not hesitate. He pulled the trigger.
The high-caliber bullet struck Elias squarely in the shoulder, spinning the massive ranger around and dropping him violently into the snow.
Emma screamed in sheer terror, clutching Daniel’s coat as Elena desperately dragged Elias behind a large boulder for cover.
Richard racked the bolt of his rifle, calmly preparing to fire a second, lethal shot.
Daniel realized his father was not going to stop until every single person on this mountain was dead.
He looked around frantically for any kind of weapon or advantage, but they were entirely pinned down on the barren summit.
Suddenly, Daniel remembered the heavy iron flashlight his father had dropped in the forest hours ago.
Daniel had secretly picked it up and shoved it deep into his coat pocket before running to Elias’s cabin.
He pulled the heavy flashlight out, but he did not try to throw it at the hovering helicopter.
He knew exactly what the pilot was relying on to keep the aircraft steady in the brutal, swirling mountain winds.
Daniel stepped out from behind the boulder, directly into the blinding beam of the spotlight.
Richard smirked, raising his rifle and perfectly aligning the crosshairs directly on his own son’s chest.
Before Richard could pull the trigger, Daniel hurled the heavy iron flashlight with all of his strength.
May you like
He didn't aim at Richard. He aimed straight up, directly into the rapidly spinning tail rotor blades of the helicopter.
The heavy iron smashed into the fragile tail mechanism with a catastrophic, grinding crunch.
