Chapter 7 - The Master Key

The wealthy board members gasped loudly as Julian threatened to wipe out their entire fortunes.
"Julian, put that device down right now!" one of the senior executives pleaded from under a table.
Julian smiled fiercely, feeling a twisted rush of toxic power return to his desperate veins.
"I want complete legal immunity and a fueled helicopter on the roof in five minutes," Julian demanded loudly.
He held the explosive thumb drive higher, his shaking finger hovering directly over the red button.
Sarah sighed deeply, looking down at him with nothing but pure, unfiltered pity.
She reached into the hidden lining of her ruined silk dress one final time.
She pulled out a small, softly glowing digital master key fob.
"You really think my brilliant father trusted you with the real master drive?" Sarah laughed into the microphone.
She aggressively pressed the glowing button on her tiny digital fob.
Julian's device instantly sparked violently, smoked heavily, and melted right in the palm of his hand.
He dropped the burning plastic to the floor with a loud scream of agonizing, burning pain.
"He gave you a fake, rigged dummy drive three years ago, just in case you ever turned on us," Sarah explained.
Julian stared at his blistered palm, his fragile mind completely breaking down under the pressure.
Everything he had worked for, lied for, and violently stolen was entirely gone in a flash.
He had absolutely no money, no corporate leverage, and no dangerous weapons left to fight with.
Cynthia crawled out from under a nearby table and pointed a violently accusing finger at Julian.
"It was all his terrible idea, he forced me to spill the wine on you!" Cynthia cried out, desperately trying to save herself.

Julian looked at his treacherous former partner with absolute, unhinged disgust and burning hatred.
He lunged violently away from the stage, trying to blindly sprint toward the kitchen service exit.
