Chapter 2 - The Feedback

Her expensive heels cracked sharply across the suddenly silent ballroom floor.

The invisible camera of the room whip-panned after her every confident, aggressive step.

Julian’s cruel smile instantly vanished from his pale, shocked face.

He lunged forward from his chair, desperately trying to grab her arm.

"You can’t go up there!" Julian shouted, completely losing his polished, corporate composure.

Sarah easily dodged his grasping hands and kept walking with absolute, unstoppable purpose.

All the polite gala chatter and clinking of glasses completely died away.

Sarah climbed the plush executive steps without ever looking back at the man who ruined her night.

She reached the center mahogany podium and forcefully grabbed the heavy microphone.

A sharp, piercing feedback noise violently screamed through the massive ballroom speakers.

Heavy silence violently slammed down over the hundreds of terrified guests.

Every single face in the magnificent room turned toward the brightly lit stage.

Nobody dared to breathe as they waited to see what the ruined girl would possibly do next.

Then, a slow and rhythmic sound broke the agonizing tension.

From the front VIP table, Maxwell slowly stood up from his leather chair.

The legendary CEO of the company began slowly clapping his hands together.

He clapped once.

He clapped twice.

His sharp, intelligent eyes were fixed entirely on Julian, burning with silent, calculated fury.

Julian stopped cold at the bottom of the stage stairs, completely paralyzed by the CEO's gaze.

Sarah looked directly down at the man who had tormented her for three long years.

"You introduced me wrong," she stated smoothly into the microphone.

She turned to face the massive crowd, her voice steady and hot as a raging fire.

"I am not the nanny," Sarah announced to the entire corporate world.

Julian reached into his tuxedo jacket, frantically pulling out a silver emergency radio to call for backup.
