Chapter 9 - The Devil's Bargain

Dante felt a sudden and terrifying coldness grip his entire heart.

He realized his father had deliberately lured him to the docks to leave the twins vulnerable.

The old man offered Dante a simple and devastating choice to end the bloodshed.

He promised to let the twins live if Dante surrendered his empire and took a bullet to the head right now.

Dante stared at the monster who had raised him and lowered his assault rifle slowly.

He unclipped his tactical vest and let it drop heavily onto the blood stained floor.

His father smiled a victorious smile and raised a silver revolver aimed directly at Dante's face.

The old man gloated that the Moretti empire would finally return to true ruthless leadership.

He began to squeeze the trigger to end his son's life permanently.

Dante did not close his eyes or beg for mercy from the devil.

Instead he pressed a hidden detonator button concealed inside the sleeve of his jacket.

A massive series of explosive charges ripped through the concrete pillars supporting the warehouse office.

The floor violently collapsed and plunged them both into the wreckage below.

Dante used the blinding dust and chaos to secure a heavy piece of rebar from the rubble.

He found his father trapped under a massive steel beam and bleeding profusely from his head.

The old man weakly begged for his son to help him escape the crushing weight.

Dante stood over him and coldly stated that true monsters do not deserve mercy.

He walked away and left his father to die in the burning ruins of the shadow syndicate.

He prayed to God that his guards had held the line at the bank vault.
