Chapter 4 - The Mechanic's Confession

Dante slammed on the brakes so hard the armored vehicle skidded sideways across the wet asphalt.
He turned in his seat and leveled his weapon directly at Sarah's chest.
He demanded to know why she had waited this long to tell him such a deadly secret.
Sarah wept and swore she only found out about Toby's involvement yesterday from the burned woman at the clinic.
The burned woman had promised to forgive Toby's sins if Sarah protected the twins tonight.
Dante lowered his weapon slowly as the puzzle pieces began to slide into place.
He put the vehicle back into gear and drove toward the rundown auto shop where Toby worked.
They arrived at the rusted garage on the south side of the city just after midnight.
Dante ordered Sarah to stay in the car and keep the doors locked no matter what happened.
He kicked open the side door of the garage and stepped into the smell of motor oil and fear.
Toby was frantically packing a duffel bag full of cash and fake passports.
Dante grabbed the young mechanic by the throat and pinned him against a toolbox.
Toby screamed and begged for his life when he recognized the mafia boss.
Dante pressed the barrel of his pistol against Toby's knee and demanded the truth about the bomb.
Toby sobbed and confessed that he was hired by a shadow broker to rig the explosive three years ago.
He swore he was told the car would be completely empty when it detonated as a mere warning.
Dante asked him for the name of the shadow broker who ordered the hit.
Toby swallowed hard and said the broker was a ghost who only communicated through untraceable letters.
Before Toby could say another word, a high caliber sniper bullet shattered the garage window.

The bullet struck Toby directly in the chest and killed him instantly.
Dante dove behind a metal workbench as a team of heavily armed assassins swarmed the perimeter.
