Chapter 3 - The Butler's Debt

Arthur kept the rifle perfectly steady as he stared at his boss.

Dante slowly raised his hands to show he was not going to reach for his pistol.

He asked Arthur how much the Kowalski syndicate had paid for his loyalty.

Arthur laughed bitterly and stated that this had absolutely nothing to do with money.

He explained that Kowalski was holding his teenage daughter hostage in a basement.

Arthur apologized with tears in his eyes and placed his finger heavily on the trigger.

Dante did not hesitate for a fraction of a second.

He kicked the heavy steel utility box on the wall and plunged the tunnel into total darkness.

Two suppressed shots echoed wildly in the narrow concrete space.

Dante tackled Arthur to the ground and drove his fist violently into the butler's jaw.

Arthur went limp and the rifle clattered away across the floor.

Dante pulled a zip tie from his pocket and bound the traitor's hands tightly.

He turned his flashlight back on and checked to make sure Sarah and the twins were unharmed.

Sarah was shaking violently but she had shielded the girls perfectly.

Dante realized that the penthouse was no longer a safe place for his children.

He led them down the remainder of the tunnel to his armored extraction vehicle in the underground garage.

They loaded into the massive black vehicle and sped out into the rainy Chicago night.

Sarah finally caught her breath and asked where they were going.

Dante stated coldly that they were going to pay a visit to the Kowalski syndicate.

He handed Sarah a loaded weapon and told her she needed to learn how to survive.

Sarah looked down at the gun and made a terrifying confession.

She whispered that her brother Toby did not just owe Kowalski money.

Toby was the mechanic who built the car bomb that killed Isabella.
