Chapter 6 - The Federal Warrant

David looked at me with a fierce, deeply protective expression as the SWAT team quickly flooded the van.
He shouted for the armed officers to secure Daniel and confiscate the loaded weapon immediately.
Two heavily armored officers violently dragged Daniel out of the van and slammed him face-first onto the wet pavement.
Dr. Hale was forcefully pulled from the driver's seat, protesting loudly and arrogantly about his prestigious medical license.
David rushed into the back of the dark van and gently helped me sit up on the cold floor.
He quickly explained that after he received my audio file, he bypassed the local corrupt police and went straight to the FBI.
He had used his high-level security connections to track Ethan's phone when Ethan suddenly stopped responding to text messages.
Real paramedics rushed to the scene, carefully transferring me from the dark van to a brightly lit, sterile ambulance.
Another emergency medical team was already down in the basement garage, actively treating Ethan's gunshot wound.
I breathed a massive, overwhelming sigh of relief, feeling the terrifying nightmare finally coming to a permanent end.
Daniel screamed wildly from the pavement that I was a crazy, hysterical woman and the audio recording was completely fake.
An FBI agent calmly informed Daniel that they had just raided Dr. Hale's office and found the offshore financial wire transfers.
The paper trail was absolutely irrefutable, and they were both going directly to federal prison for a very long time.
The paramedics loaded me into the ambulance, loudly warning David that my contractions were now less than two minutes apart.
They told him I was definitely going to deliver this baby before we ever reached the emergency room.
David warmly squeezed my hand and promised he would absolutely not leave my side until I was safe.
The ambulance sped away from the hospital crime scene, its loud sirens wailing through the dark city streets.
I pushed through the agonizing, blinding pain of active labor, focusing only on the innocent life I was about to bring into the world.
The paramedic prepared the sterile medical equipment, constantly telling me I was doing a fantastic job.
I closed my eyes tightly and pushed with all the remaining strength I had left in my completely exhausted body.
The sharp, beautiful cry of a newborn baby suddenly filled the small, sterile space of the ambulance.
The paramedic smiled brightly and gently placed a perfect, healthy baby boy directly onto my bare chest.
I wept tears of pure, unadulterated joy, wrapping my protective arms tightly around my crying son.
David smiled warmly, pulling out his personal phone to seemingly send a text message of good news.

I accidentally glanced at his glowing screen just as he hit send, and my heart completely stopped beating.
The text message was sent directly to Vanessa, and it read: "Daniel is arrested, the money is ours, bring the car around."
