Chapter 10 - The Peaceful Farm
The sound of heavy police sirens filled the morning air as dozens of heavily armed tactical units finally arrived at the compound.
I had secretly texted my old police captain friend the exact coordinates of our location right before the final siege began.
The authorities dragged a heavily bleeding Marcus and his entire mercenary army away in heavy steel handcuffs.
Maya handed the real, highly encrypted microchip directly to the federal agents, ensuring Marcus would spend the rest of his miserable life behind bars.
The authorities officially cleared Wade and the Iron Saints of any wrongdoing, recognizing their heroic actions in protecting an innocent family.
Six peaceful months later, the terrifying chaos of the city felt like nothing more than a distant, fading nightmare.
Wade had proudly purchased a beautiful, sprawling farm out in the quiet countryside to raise his happily reunited family.
Maya was finally glowing with genuine happiness, completely free from the dark, abusive shadows of her terrible past.
Baby Leo had grown incredibly strong and healthy, completely overcoming his premature birth with the help of his loving grandfather.
I smiled warmly as I watched Wade gently rocking Leo on the front porch, the giant biker looking entirely at peace.
The smell of sweet barbecue filled the air as I hugged Maya goodbye, promising to visit them again next weekend.
I walked to my car, feeling incredibly proud of the beautiful, happy ending we had all fought so desperately to achieve.
I unlocked my driver's side door and slid comfortably onto the soft, familiar leather seat of my vehicle.
Sitting perfectly centered on my steering wheel was a crisp, heavy black envelope with absolutely no return address.

I opened it with trembling fingers to find a high-resolution photograph of my own parents walking their dog yesterday afternoon.
A handwritten note clipped to the terrifying photo simply read, "Marcus was just the middleman, and now you owe us."
