Chapter 15 - The Invisible Infiltrator

The plan was incredibly dangerous, but it was the only way to completely blindside a mastermind as cunning as Isabella.

Pier 4 was a massive, heavily fortified shipping yard controlled entirely by Isabella's newly acquired mercenary army.

A frontal assault would be absolute suicide and would likely result in the destruction of the master ledgers.

We needed someone to slip through her security grid, disable the perimeter alarms, and locate exactly where she was holding the documents.

I stepped forward in the warehouse, looking Lorenzo directly in the eyes.

"I will do it," I volunteered, completely ignoring the shocked whispers of the hardened enforcers surrounding us.

Lorenzo instantly shook his head, his protective instincts completely overriding his strategic mind.

"Absolutely not, Elena. You are not a soldier," he argued fiercely, pulling me aside.

"No, I am not a soldier," I replied calmly. "I am an invisible maid. I spent my entire life blending into the background of massive estates."

I reminded him that I knew Isabella's habits, her preferred security layouts, and exactly how she operated behind closed doors.

"They are looking for an army of heavily armed men, Lorenzo. They will never look twice at a cleaning woman carrying a supply cart."

Lorenzo stared at me, his jaw clenched tight, battling his desperate need to keep me safe against the flawless logic of my plan.

He finally pulled me into a fierce, passionate kiss, holding me against his chest as if he never wanted to let go.

"You have exactly twenty minutes to disable the camera grid before I breach the front gates," Lorenzo ordered, his voice thick with emotion.

An hour later, I stepped out of an unmarked van three blocks away from Pier 4, wearing a stolen janitorial uniform and pushing a heavy cleaning cart.

The pouring rain completely masked my approach as I walked confidently toward the heavily guarded employee entrance of the shipping yard.

Two armed mercenaries stopped me at the gate, their flashlights shining harshly into my face.

I kept my head down, playing the role of a terrified, overworked immigrant cleaner assigned to the late-night warehouse shift.

"Night shift cleaning crew," I muttered in broken English, handing them a forged identification badge Lorenzo’s tech team had created.

The guards laughed mockingly at my pathetic appearance, swiping the badge without a second thought.

The gate buzzed open, and I walked directly into the heart of Isabella’s fortress.

I navigated the sprawling, dimly lit warehouse, ignoring the heavily armed patrols and heading straight for the central server room.

I slipped my hand inside a hollow bleach bottle on my cart, pulling out a sophisticated digital scrambling device.

I quietly picked the lock on the server room door, slipping inside the humming, flashing room completely undetected.

I attached the scrambler to the main security terminal, watching the green lights instantly turn red as the entire camera network went completely blind.

My earpiece crackled softly with Lorenzo's deep, reassuring voice.

"Cameras are down, Elena. We are breaching the gates in thirty seconds."

Before I could leave the server room, the heavy steel door violently swung open, and I found myself staring directly into the barrel of a mercenary’s assault rifle.
