Chapter 7 - The Rival Don

Marcus prepared to pull the trigger and end the Castellano bloodline forever.

Before his finger could move, a gunshot echoed through the basement corridor.

Marcus cried out and dropped his weapon as a bullet shattered his wrist.

Vincent stood at the end of the hallway, leaning heavily against the concrete wall.

His white shirt was soaked in fresh blood, but his gun hand was perfectly steady.

He ordered Marcus to step away from the grate and open the tunnel door.

Marcus fell to his knees, clutching his bleeding wrist in agony.

Suddenly, a massive explosion shook the foundation of the entire estate.

The front gates of the compound had just been blown completely off their hinges.

Dozens of armed men in tactical gear poured onto the manicured lawn.

A black armored SUV drove right through the front doors of the mansion.

An older man in a tailored silk suit stepped out of the vehicle into the ruined foyer.

Don Salvatore, the head of the most ruthless rival family in Chicago, had arrived.

Vincent dragged himself up the stairs to confront the invading army.

He aimed his pistol at Salvatore's chest, ready to die defending his home.

Salvatore did not raise a weapon or order his men to fire.

He looked at Vincent and calmly stated that this was not a mafia war.

Salvatore pointed a finger down the hallway toward the basement stairs.

He announced that he only came to collect the little girl.
