Chapter 5 - The Poisoned Needle
The freezing water in the tunnel quickly reached Camille's knees.
She lifted Adeline onto her shoulders and frantically searched for a higher ledge.
Back in the medical bay, Vincent felt a sudden shift in the estate's power grid.
He knew exactly what the humming sound beneath the floorboards meant.
The emergency flood protocol had been activated in the old smuggling tunnels.
Vincent ripped the IV line out of his arm, ignoring the sharp pain in his chest.
He demanded that Dr. Lena Morales help him get to the basement immediately.
Lena rushed to his side and told him he was going to bleed to death.
Vincent grabbed his silver pistol from the bedside table and used it to stand up.
He told Lena that Marcus was a traitor and Camille was innocent.
Lena looked at the bleeding mafia boss with an unreadable expression.
She reached into her medical bag and pulled out a glass syringe filled with a cloudy liquid.
Vincent ordered her to open the armory door so he could save the maid.
Lena stepped calmly in front of the electronic keypad.
She did not punch in the security code as he asked.
She told Vincent that Marcus was going to pay her three million dollars for a new life.

Lena suddenly lunged forward and jammed the needle into Vincent's injured shoulder.
Vincent collapsed against the steel wall as his vision instantly turned black.
