Chapter 18 - The Doctor's Final Patient

While the war raged in the main warehouse, Dr. Lena Morales attempted to slip out through the loading docks.
She carried a metal briefcase containing millions of dollars in untraceable bearer bonds, a final payout from the Bratva.
She unlocked her getaway car and threw the heavy briefcase onto the passenger seat with a triumphant smirk.
Her smile vanished instantly when she felt the cold, steel barrel of a shotgun press against the back of her head.
Camille had climbed down from the rafters, tracking the treacherous doctor through the chaos of the firefight.
Lena slowly raised her hands, trying to use her smooth, manipulative voice to negotiate her way out of death.
She told Camille that they were both just women trying to survive in a world controlled by violent men.
Camille pressed the gun harder into Lena’s skull, reminding her that she had poisoned Vincent and sold a child to monsters.
Lena made a sudden, desperate move, spinning around with a hidden surgical scalpel aimed at Camille’s throat.
Camille didn't flinch. She simply pulled the heavy trigger.
The blast echoed through the freezing loading dock, and Dr. Lena Morales collapsed onto the snow-covered pavement.
