Chapter 4 - The Underground Flood

Marcus ripped the brass cover off the wall with a violent pull.

He reached into the dark space and grabbed Adeline by her small ankle.

The toddler screamed for her mother as she was dragged out onto the floor.

Marcus raised his hand to silence the child permanently.

Suddenly, a heavy fire extinguisher smashed into the back of his skull.

Camille stood behind him, breathing heavily with a stolen security keycard hanging from her neck.

She scooped up her crying daughter and ran down the basement stairs.

They sprinted past the wine cellar toward the old prohibition tunnels beneath the estate.

Camille swiped the stolen card on the heavy steel door and pushed inside.

The tunnel was completely dark and smelled of damp earth and rust.

They heard Marcus shouting orders to his men from the top of the stairs.

Camille ran deeper into the stone corridor to find the exit leading to the river.

The heavy steel door slammed shut behind them with a terrible mechanical grinding noise.

Marcus had locked the electronic deadbolt from the main control panel.

Camille heard a deep rushing sound coming from the walls around them.

The floor beneath her feet suddenly became wet and cold.

Marcus had opened the emergency storm drains connected to the river.
