Chapter 7 - The Falling Floor

The explosion deafened everyone in the warehouse.
A massive shockwave ripped through the concrete, sending a cloud of dust and debris into the air.
The steel support beams around Sophia groaned violently as they snapped.
The section of the floor holding her chair began to tilt drastically toward the freezing black water below.
Sophia screamed as the chair slid closer to the edge of the jagged concrete.
Gunfire erupted from all sides as Alessandro’s men opened fire on the catwalk.
Alessandro sprinted forward, dodging a hail of bullets tearing into the floorboards around him.
But he wasn't fast enough.
Sophia’s chair slipped over the edge, plunging toward the icy river.
Suddenly, a black blur shot past Alessandro.
Ignoring his shattered hip and fresh bullet wounds, Bruno leaped into the abyss.
The massive dog caught the thick rope tying Sophia to the chair in his powerful jaws just as she fell.
His heavy paws scrambled for traction on the icy, tilted concrete.
With a horrifying crack, Bruno’s bad leg finally gave out under the immense weight.
But his jaws remained locked like a steel trap on the rope, keeping Sophia suspended inches above the lethal water.
Victor Romanov leaned over the railing, aiming his high-powered rifle directly at the dog’s head.

Alessandro saw the laser sight paint a red dot on Bruno’s skull.
Without hesitating, the mafia boss threw his own body between the rifle and the dog.
