Chapter 10 - The Masterpiece

Vincent paced slowly around the metal interrogation table, gloating endlessly about his brilliant, flawless victory.
He explained exactly how easily he had bought the local police force and completely manipulated the FBI.
Dominic simply stared at him with a calm, deeply unnerving silence.
Vincent raised his hand aggressively to strike Dominic across the face.
Suddenly, every single cell phone in the precinct began to ring loudly at the exact same moment.
The heavy metal door burst open, and heavily armed federal agents stormed the small room.
These were absolutely not the corrupt local cops on Vincent’s generous payroll.
They were the FBI Director’s elite internal affairs tactical team.
Clara stepped bravely into the room from behind the wall of tactical shields, holding her father's ledger.
She had successfully broadcasted the digitized ledger to every major news outlet and the Commission's remaining loyalists simultaneously.
Vincent realized with absolute horror that his entire empire had just evaporated in a matter of seconds.
He reached desperately for his weapon, but a dozen federal agents tackled him violently to the concrete floor.
Clara walked over to Dominic and used a small silver key to unlock his heavy steel handcuffs.
She told him softly that the FBI Director had granted him full immunity in exchange for his cooperation in dismantling the syndicate.
Dominic stood up slowly, rubbing his bruised wrists, and pulled Clara into a deeply passionate embrace.
The violent mafia life was finally behind him forever, and they were entirely free to start over together.
Six months later, they sat peacefully on the white sands of a secluded Caribbean beach.
The warm ocean breeze carried the pleasant scent of salt and total, absolute freedom.
A silent waiter approached their lounge chairs and handed Dominic a cold tropical cocktail resting on a folded white napkin.

Dominic lifted his glass, his relaxed smile freezing instantly as he looked down at the linen.
Written perfectly across the napkin in bright red lipstick were the words, "Did you really think Vincent was the mastermind?"
