Chapter 9 - The Redemption

Walter dropped his hot gun heavily on the concrete steps and fell to his knees in bitter tears.
"I just couldn't leave you again," Walter wept loudly, staring blankly at the man he had just killed.
Abigail simply did not have time to emotionally process her father's sudden, desperate attempt at violent redemption.
She pushed Tommy safely behind her and cautiously stepped completely over Leo's lifeless body.
Back inside the ruined penthouse, the brutal fight between Simon and Ivan had reached a bloody, desperate climax.
Ivan had slyly drawn a serrated hunting knife and sliced deeply into Simon's exposed side.
Simon grunted in extreme, agonizing pain but impressively managed to grab Ivan's wrist with his bare, bloody hands.
With a raw, utterly animalistic roar, Simon twisted Ivan's arm violently until the bone snapped audibly.
Ivan dropped the bloody knife instantly, howling in pure agony.
Simon absolutely did not hesitate, driving his heavy knee viciously into Ivan's face and knocking him out completely cold.
The few remaining Russian guards finally saw their brutal boss fall and immediately surrendered, dropping their weapons entirely.
Simon leaned heavily against the ruined marble bar, bleeding profusely and dangerously from his side.
Abigail rushed to him instantly, completely tearing the last clean piece of her dress to firmly bind his wound.
"We absolutely have to stop that plane from taking Rose to Moscow," she panicked wildly, pressing her hands tightly against his bleeding side.
Simon coughed up bright red blood, but managed a wonderfully weak, genuinely triumphant smile.
"The plane actually never left the runway, little bird," Simon whispered remarkably hoarsely.
He pulled a remarkably bloody cell phone from his pocket and showed her a glowing text message.
It was from his fiercely loyal men at the airport, clearly confirming they had successfully intercepted the jet and rescued Rose.
Abigail let out a massive, totally shuddering breath of pure relief and hugged Simon incredibly tightly.
For the absolute first time since this entire nightmare began, she actually felt completely safe in his strong arms.
Suddenly, the shattered penthouse doors swung wide open, and heavily armed police tactical teams swarmed the entire room.

They aimed dozens of blindingly bright laser sights directly at Simon and Abigail's chests.
"Nobody move a muscle, you are all officially under arrest," the stern police captain shouted loudly over the wailing sirens.
