Chapter 4 - The Interrogation

Abigail backed away from the blinking tracker as if it were a highly poisonous snake.

"I did not put that there," she swore loudly, raising her hands defensively in the air.

Simon picked up the small device and crushed it ruthlessly under his heavy leather boot.

"My men bought that exact dress specifically for you," Simon said, stepping dangerously close to her.

"The only person who hugged you before we left was your beloved father," he realized aloud.

Abigail felt a sickening, physical knot twist deep in her stomach.

Her own cowardly father had literally planted a target on her back just to save himself.

Before she could fully process the ultimate betrayal, Simon's encrypted burner phone rang loudly.

It was Leo, his most trusted lieutenant.

"Boss, we safely secured the girl's father, but the kids were already gone," Leo reported tensely.

Abigail violently snatched the phone right out of Simon's hand.

"Where are my brother and sister?" she screamed hysterically into the receiver.

"The Russians already have them," Leo replied softly.

Simon calmly took the phone back and ended the call abruptly.

He looked closely at the desperate, broken woman standing fearfully before him.

"Your father traded your siblings to the Russians to clear his stolen diamond debt," Simon stated bluntly.

Hot tears of absolute, uncontrollable fury streamed rapidly down Abigail's dirty cheeks.

She boldly grabbed Simon's spare gun from the table and aimed it directly at his chest.

Simon did not flinch even slightly, his dark eyes watching her with intense, calculating curiosity.

"Teach me how to use this, or I will kill you right now," she demanded fiercely.

Simon actually smiled, revealing a remarkably dark and terrifying grin.

"Put the gun down, wife, and I will show you how to burn an entire city to the ground," he whispered.

Suddenly, the heavy steel warehouse doors rattled violently as a heavy battering ram struck them from the outside.
