Chapter 10 - The Syndicate's Fall

Simon slowly and confidently raised his hands, completely unbothered by the heavily armed tactical units.

He looked directly at the tense police captain and smiled a highly dangerous, totally knowing smile.

"Captain Miller, you are rudely interrupting my honeymoon," Simon stated incredibly casually.

The captain glared at him fiercely but slowly lowered his heavy weapon with a truly exhausted sigh.

Simon secretly had half the city's police force on his private payroll, and Miller was absolutely no exception.

Miller frustratingly ordered his men to quietly arrest the unconscious Russians and escort Walter out in heavy handcuffs.

"Your father will definitely serve a few years for illegal gambling, but he will be entirely safe in protective custody," Simon promised Abigail softly.

Later that quiet evening, Abigail sat comfortably on the plush sofa of Simon's completely secure secondary penthouse.

Tommy and Rose were profoundly sound asleep in the adjoining bedroom, finally totally safe and completely unharmed.

Simon walked slowly into the warm living room, freshly bandaged and wearing a remarkably clean linen shirt.

He sat quietly beside her and softly handed her a fully signed legal document.

"Your family's massive debt is entirely wiped clean, and you are absolutely free to leave me tomorrow," he said genuinely.

Abigail looked intensely at the paper, then looked deeply at the fierce, incredibly protective man who had bled for her family.

She slowly and deliberately tore the annulment papers completely in half and let the pieces fall lightly to the floor.

"I am exactly where I belong," she whispered happily, leaning over to kiss him incredibly deeply.

They spent the rest of the wonderfully peaceful night wrapped securely in each other's arms, finally finding absolute peace.

The bright morning sun rose beautifully over the Philadelphia skyline, washing the entire city in gorgeous golden light.

Abigail woke up perfectly happy, smiling warmly as she blindly reached for her buzzing cell phone on the wooden nightstand.

It was a strange picture message from an utterly unknown international number.

The startling photograph clearly showed Abigail's supposedly dead mother, smiling brightly and happily holding hands with a much older, terrifyingly familiar man.

The cryptic text beneath the picture simply read, "Your mother sends her love, and she fiercely wants her stolen diamonds back."
