Chapter 9 - Blood and Brotherhood

Jax dove behind a steel pillar as Pops opened fire.
The shotgun blast shredded the concrete where Jax had just stood.
The cartel mercenaries raised their automatic weapons and flooded the room with bullets.
Bear grabbed a heavy wrench from a nearby workbench and hurled it.
The wrench struck a mercenary in the face, breaking his jaw.
Bear used the opening to charge forward, tackling another gunman to the floor.
He grabbed the man’s rifle and started returning fire.
“Get the kid out of here!” Jax yelled to Sarah over the deafening noise.
Sarah scooped the little boy into her arms and ran toward the side exit.
Pops saw them moving and aimed his shotgun at her back.
Jax broke cover, sprinting across the open floor to intercept.
A cartel bullet clipped Jax in the thigh, causing him to stumble.
He ignored the burning pain and tackled Pops just as the old man pulled the trigger.
The buckshot blew a hole in the warehouse roof instead.
Jax and Pops rolled across the dirty floor in a brutal struggle.
Despite his age, Pops was terrifyingly strong and fought dirty.
He drove a concealed blade into Jax’s shoulder.
Jax grunted in pain, his grip loosening.
Pops stood up and pointed the bloody knife at Jax's throat.
Before he could strike, Bear slammed into Pops like a freight train.
Bear unleashed five years of grief and rage into a devastating right hook.
Pops crashed into a stack of oil drums and did not get back up.
The remaining mercenaries, seeing their leader fall, turned and fled into the fog.
The warehouse suddenly fell eerily quiet, save for the sound of heavy breathing.
Bear walked over to Jax and offered his hand to help his brother up.

Just as their hands clasped, a flashing red light on a nearby crate caught Bear's eye.
Pops had armed a cartel explosive, and the timer was at ten seconds.
