Chapter 4 - The Phantom Strike

Bear felt his heart stop.

He raised his revolver, but he was too far away to make a clean shot.

“Drop it!” the masked man ordered in a gravelly voice.

Sarah froze, pushing her son behind her legs.

The bikers in the yard suddenly found themselves caught between the sniper and the clubhouse.

Bear slowly lowered his gun, his mind racing for a solution.

“Let the kid go,” Bear pleaded, his voice thick with desperation.

The masked man chuckled darkly.

He grabbed Sarah by her bleeding shoulder and yanked her inside.

The little boy screamed and tried to grab his mother's hand.

The heavy iron door slammed shut, locking from the inside.

Bear let out a furious roar and sprinted across the open yard.

Bullets tore through the dust around him, but he did not care.

He crashed into the iron door shoulder-first, but it did not budge.

The sniper fire abruptly stopped.

An eerie silence fell over the compound.

Bear pounded his bloody fists against the metal.

Suddenly, the intercom speaker above the door crackled to life.

“You wanted to know the truth about the empty grave, Bear,” a distorted voice announced.

Bear stepped back, staring up at the speaker.

“Who are you?” he demanded.

“I am the ghost you created,” the voice replied.

A deafening explosion rocked the back of the compound.

Thick black smoke billowed into the sky from the garage.

Bear realized the sniper and the masked man were just a distraction.

They had just blown open the club's underground armory.
