Chapter 2 - The Sins of the Past

Bear, the club president, stood up slowly.

He could not believe the woman standing in front of him.

Sarah had vanished five years ago on the night of the cartel ambush.

They all assumed she had died alongside Jax.

“Sarah, we searched for months,” Bear said, lowering his weapon.

She sneered at him and walked toward her son.

She wrapped a protective arm around the little boy.

“You searched the places you were told to search,” she replied bitterly.

Murmurs erupted among the heavily armed men.

Bear took a step forward, his massive frame casting a long shadow.

“Jax was my brother, and I saw the car explode,” Bear stated.

Sarah reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, silver object.

It was a bullet casing.

She tossed it onto the dirt right at Bear’s steel-toed boots.

Bear looked down at the brass shell.

It was not a standard cartel round.

It was a custom forty-five caliber casing with a skull etched into the base.

Only one man in the entire state manufactured those bullets.

Bear turned his head slowly to look at his Vice President, Snake.

Snake took a nervous step back, his hand resting on his holster.

“You think I did this?” Snake yelled defensively.

Sarah did not even blink.

“I know you did, because Jax found the buyer,” she answered.

The yard suddenly felt like a powder keg waiting for a single spark.

Bear stared at Snake with murderous intent.

Snake drew his weapon in a panic.

Before anyone could react, a deafening crack echoed from the distant tree line.

A high-caliber sniper bullet tore through the dirt, missing Bear's boot by an inch.

Someone was watching them through a scope.
