Chapter 8 - The Price of Betrayal

Jax stood completely still, his gun unwavering.
“You always were a coward, Snake,” Jax said coldly.
Snake's hand trembled violently against the boy's temple.
“You are supposed to be dead!” Snake yelled, his eyes wide with panic.
Bear slowly got to his feet, aiming his own weapon at Snake.
“It is over, Snake,” Bear warned.
Snake let out a hysterical laugh.
“You think I did this alone?” he mocked.
Snake looked directly at Bear with a twisted smile.
“I didn't order the ambush five years ago.”
Bear frowned, confused by the sudden confession.
“Who did?” Bear demanded.
“Pops did,” Jax answered, not taking his eyes off Snake.
Bear felt a cold chill run down his spine at the mention of their old club founder.
Pops had supposedly retired to a nursing home years ago.
“He sold me to the cartel to secure the smuggling routes,” Jax explained.
Snake nodded eagerly, hoping to negotiate his way out.
“Pops is here right now,” Snake revealed.
Suddenly, the loud rack of a shotgun echoed from the darkness behind Bear.
An old man in a tailored suit stepped into the dim light.
It was Pops, and he was flanked by heavily armed cartel mercenaries.
“You talk too much, Snake,” Pops said calmly.
He raised the shotgun and fired without hesitation.
Snake was thrown backward by the blast, dropping the boy.
The little boy hit the ground and scrambled away in terror.

Pops turned the shotgun toward Jax and smiled a wicked, toothless grin.
“I am going to put you back in that grave, son,” Pops sneered.
