Chapter 7 - The Underground Empire

David carefully carried Maya deep into a hidden, reinforced concrete bunker located far beneath the city.

The secret underground safe house was completely filled with massive server racks and glowing computer monitors.

Maya quickly changed into warm, dry clothes while David immediately began typing aggressively on a mechanical keyboard.

"We have exactly twelve hours before the corporate board officially votes me out," David explained rapidly.

Maya tightly wrapped her arms around herself to finally stop the terrible, lingering shivering.

"What exactly happened to my mother?" Maya asked with immense, overwhelming anxiety.

"My private men safely extracted her during the massive chaos at the bridge," David assured her calmly.

Maya felt a truly massive, suffocating weight lift directly from her exhausted, tight chest.

She walked slowly over and stood quietly right behind his large leather computer chair.

"You literally risked your entire financial empire for a completely fake fiancée," Maya noted very softly.

David completely stopped typing and spun his heavy chair around to face her directly.

"There is absolutely nothing fake about how I actually feel when I look at you," David confessed openly.

Maya felt her beating heart violently skip a beat at his raw, unexpected emotional vulnerability.

He slowly reached out and gently brushed a damp, stray strand of hair from her soft cheek.

"I firmly promised myself I would absolutely never let another woman matter to me," David whispered.

"You totally broke that strict rule on the very first night," Maya smiled warmly at him.

David leaned slowly in and gently pressed his warm lips against hers.

The deep kiss was incredibly fierce, highly desperate, and completely filled with unspoken, beautiful promises.

Maya completely melted into his strong embrace, finally feeling entirely safe for the first time.

Suddenly, a loud, piercing security alarm started blaring violently through the concrete bunker walls.

Bright red warning lights flashed incredibly aggressively across the low, concrete ceiling.

David jumped rapidly up and stared fiercely at the primary glowing computer monitor.

"Someone is aggressively hacking into my highly secure personal offshore accounts," David realized with panic.

Maya fearfully watched the billions of dollars actively draining from his massive net worth in real time.

"It absolutely has to be Victoria doing this," Maya shouted loudly over the deafening sirens.

David frantically typed a rapid series of highly complex override codes to forcibly stop the massive theft.

"Access completely denied," the bright computer screen suddenly flashed in bold, terrifying red letters.

David violently slammed his heavy fist onto the solid metal desk in absolute, unchecked frustration.

"She somehow locked me completely out of my very own security system," David growled angrily.

Maya slowly pointed at a smaller secondary screen that had just unexpectedly popped up.

A live, high-definition video feed showed Marcus standing arrogantly in David's massive corporate office.

Marcus happily held up a heavily signed legal document directly to the office security camera.

"Thanks for the full legal power of attorney, Mr. Prescott," Marcus gloated cruelly through the audio speakers.

David stared silently at the bright screen with absolute, unadulterated horror.

"I absolutely never officially signed that legal document," David whispered in shock.

Maya looked at the forged signature incredibly carefully on the high-definition monitor.

May you like

"No," Maya said with a violently trembling, tiny voice.

"I mistakenly signed that exact document when I thought it was simply my employment contract."
