Chapter 10 - The Billionaire's Heart
David put the expensive phone slowly back into his suit pocket with a heavily dramatic sigh.
"That was my private medical security team in Switzerland," David told her quietly.
Maya instantly felt a massive, terrifying spike of sheer panic directly in her chest.
"Your mother's complex surgery was a complete, massive medical success," David finished with a totally massive, bright grin.
Maya violently burst into messy tears of pure, unadulterated joy and hugged him incredibly tightly.
"You absolutely scared me to death with that pause!" Maya scolded him highly playfully.
David laughed incredibly loudly, a beautiful sound he had absolutely not made in many long years.
The massive, terrifying core conflict that had forcefully brought them together was finally resolved entirely.
Victoria and Marcus were completely locked safely away in a maximum-security federal prison eagerly awaiting a very long trial.
David had entirely regained total, absolute control of his truly massive corporate global empire.
More importantly, Maya's sweet mother was completely physically safe and healing incredibly beautifully in a luxury suite.
They happily walked out of the massive corporate tower completely hand in hand.
The bright morning sun was just beginning to slowly rise beautifully over the stunning city skyline.
"So, the totally fake marriage contract is officially completely void," Maya noted very quietly.
David immediately stopped walking and quickly turned to face her directly on the totally empty sidewalk.
"I absolutely do not want a totally fake contract anymore," David stated incredibly firmly.
He slowly reached deep into his jacket pocket and pulled out the massive diamond ring he had originally bought for the grand charade.
"I totally want the entirely real thing with you, Maya."
Maya carefully looked down at the absolutely stunning ring and then quickly back up at the wonderful man she actually loved.
"You are legally asking a total stranger to forever marry you," Maya joked happily through her joyful tears.
"You are absolutely not a complete stranger to me anymore," David replied incredibly softly.
"You are the absolutely only woman who ever successfully made me want something so much more."
Maya smiled incredibly brightly and happily held out her shaking left hand.
"Then my absolute answer is definitely yes," Maya whispered happily.
David smoothly slid the massive, sparkling diamond directly onto her finger and kissed her highly passionately right under the morning sun.
They happily spent the entire next month romantically traveling the world and frequently visiting her heavily recovering mother.
David finally successfully learned exactly how to actively trust, and Maya finally had the absolute total stability she highly deserved.
They were incredibly happier than absolutely either of them had completely ever been in their entire respective lives.
They honestly and completely thought the terrifying darkness of their highly traumatic past was permanently behind them.
One quiet evening, they happily returned to David's luxury mansion to unexpectedly find a dark black envelope firmly taped to the heavy front door.
David curiously pulled it quickly down and forcefully broke the heavy, dark red wax seal.
Inside was a completely terrifying, highly secret photograph of David and Maya peacefully sleeping securely in their private bedroom.
