Chapter 4 - The Midnight Flight
David aggressively grabbed a heavy crystal vase and smashed it forcefully against the wall.
Maya visibly jumped at the sudden, explosive violence in the room.
"Marcus, get the private helicopter ready right now," David roared with fury.
"Where are we exactly going?" Maya asked frantically as she grabbed her coat.
"We are breaking your mother out of that compromised hospital," David replied quickly.
Maya ran breathlessly after him as they hurried toward the private roof of the mansion.
The deafening, rhythmic sound of the chopper blades completely filled the cold night air.
David quickly helped Maya into the luxurious cabin and strapped her in securely.
His warm hands lingered on her waist for just a fraction of a second longer than necessary.
Maya felt a very strange, undeniable flutter in her chest despite the absolute chaos.
They flew rapidly over the glittering skyline of the city in incredibly tense silence.
When they forcefully landed on the hospital roof, David's private security team was already waiting.
"Secure the entire floor and do not let anyone stop our extraction," David commanded his armed guards.
They rushed quickly down the sterile white hallways toward the busy intensive care unit.
Maya forcefully burst into her mother's private medical room.
Her frail mother was sleeping peacefully, totally unaware of the corporate war surrounding her bed.
"We have to move her to my private medical facility in Switzerland tonight," David explained rapidly.
Maya nodded in agreement, suddenly trusting this dangerous man completely.
A team of heavily paid private medics carefully transferred her mother onto a mobile stretcher.
Just as they rapidly reached the elevator, the metal doors opened to reveal a dozen armed police officers.
"Stand down immediately, Mr. Prescott," the stern police captain ordered loudly.
David bravely stepped directly in front of Maya to shield her body with his own.
"On what exact charge?" David demanded furiously as the guards raised their weapons.
The captain confidently pulled a folded, official piece of paper from his dark jacket.
"Kidnapping and extreme medical endangerment," the officer stated incredibly clearly.
Victoria suddenly stepped out from behind the wall of police officers with a triumphant, evil smirk.
"I told you not to ever mess with me, David," she whispered maliciously.

The police captain stepped forcefully forward with a pair of cold steel handcuffs.
"David Prescott, you are officially under arrest," the captain announced to the stunned hallway.
