Chapter 8 - The Media Play

Claire stared at the glowing smartphone in absolute, complete disbelief.
She quickly grabbed the expensive device and immediately opened the private text messages.
The screen was completely filled with highly detailed conversations between Evan, Peter, and the corrupt judge.
There were clear audio memos actively discussing the exact plan to murder Sophie after the money was successfully transferred.
"This is all the absolute proof we need to completely destroy them," Mark said, a triumphant smile crossing his bruised face.
But they still could not trust the heavily corrupted local police force with this highly sensitive evidence.
Mark looked at his watch, realizing it was already ten-thirty at night.
"We are going directly to the largest news broadcasting station in the city, we are going to expose them on live television," Mark decided.
They quickly hailed a passing taxi and aggressively ordered the driver to speed directly to the downtown media center.
Claire spent the entire ride heavily forwarding all the digital evidence to her own personal email accounts for backup.
They finally arrived at the towering broadcasting station, entirely surrounded by bright lights and massive satellite trucks.
Mark flashed his private investigator badge to completely bypass the confused security guards at the front desk.
They sprinted desperately toward the main studio, where the highly popular late-night news program was currently airing live.
Claire aggressively pushed the heavy studio doors open, completely prepared to hijack the live broadcast.
But as she stepped into the bright studio lights, she completely froze in her tracks.
Evan was already sitting perfectly on the main interview couch, crying entirely fake tears for the cameras.

He was actively telling the famous news anchor that his beloved new wife had suffered a massive psychotic break.
"She violently kidnapped my beautiful stepdaughter, and I am begging anyone to please help me find them," Evan sobbed perfectly on live television.
