Chapter 15 - The Armory

Adrian stared coldly at the lifeless body of his wife for a long, silent moment.

He did not shed a single tear for the woman who had shared his bed and plotted his violent murder.

He gently patted Titan's blood-soaked head, silently praising the dog for his brutal efficiency.

"We have a destination," Adrian said, turning his attention back to Clara.

"But we do not have the firepower to breach a fortified penthouse."

Clara wiped the blood from her face with a damp towel, her resolve hardening into solid steel.

"Then where do we get it?" she asked without a trace of hesitation.

Adrian walked out the back door of the clinic, gesturing for her to follow him into the stolen muscle car.

They drove to the oldest cemetery in the city, parking in the shadows of towering, ancient oak trees.

Adrian led her through rows of crumbling tombstones until they reached a massive, ornate marble mausoleum bearing the Castellano name.

He reached behind a stone angel, typed a heavy numeric code into a hidden keypad, and pushed the heavy stone doors open.

Clara gasped as the dim emergency lights flickered on, illuminating the interior of the crypt.

There were no coffins inside the marble walls.

Instead, the mausoleum was a fully stocked, military-grade armory and a vault holding millions in untraceable cash.

Rows of automatic rifles, tactical shotguns, body armor, and heavy explosives lined the stone shelves.

"My grandfather built this during the prohibition wars," Adrian explained, grabbing a heavy Kevlar vest.

"It has saved our family from total extinction exactly three times."

Clara stripped off her bloody, ruined nursing scrubs without an ounce of modesty.

She dressed quickly in dark tactical pants, a tight black combat shirt, and a heavy bulletproof vest.

She strapped a tactical holster to her thigh and slid a heavy, suppressed pistol into the custom leather.

Adrian watched her transform from a healer into a highly lethal soldier right before his eyes.

He tossed her a compact submachine gun and two extra magazines.

"Are you absolutely sure you can pull the trigger on your own father?" Adrian asked, his voice dead serious.

May you like

Clara racked the bolt of the weapon, her dark eyes completely devoid of any remaining mercy.

"He stopped being my father the day he fed my family to the wolves," she answered coldly.
