Chapter 18 - The Bloody Escape
The shockwave from the massive explosion aggressively rocked the armored vehicle, shattering the remaining reinforced windows.
Jonah expertly slammed the vehicle into reverse, aggressively spinning the heavy tires on the wet concrete.
He violently tore out of the ruined warehouse, plunging back into the absolute chaos of the stormy courtyard.
Victor’s heavily armed men were engaging the remaining cartel mercenaries in a brutal, disorganized firefight.
Jonah aggressively rammed through a heavy blockade of burning cars, desperate to completely clear the dockyards.
"We need to get out of the city immediately!" Stella yelled, checking her minor injuries.
"We cannot leave yet," Jonah stated grimly, his face illuminated fiercely by the dashboard lights.
"Victor knows about the hidden underground bunker at the estate."
Stella’s heart completely sank as she realized the horrifying implication of his words.
"He is going to raid the house to completely secure his control over the city," Stella deduced.
"And he knows the exact access codes to the bunker," Jonah confirmed bitterly.
They sped aggressively through the rain-slicked streets, pushing the damaged armored vehicle to its absolute limit.
They arrived back at the Navarro estate to find the heavy front gates already violently smashed open.
Several of Victor's black SUVs were aggressively parked on the manicured front lawn.
"They are already inside," Stella observed, aggressively loading her final magazine into her rifle.
Jonah bypassed the main driveway completely, aggressively steering the vehicle toward a hidden access road in the woods.
He parked the massive vehicle deep in the thick trees, completely hidden from the house.
"The bunker has a highly volatile self-destruct protocol designed to completely incinerate the sensitive files," Jonah explained rapidly.
"If Victor accesses the mainframe, he gains complete control over my entire remaining network."
Stella looked at Jonah, completely understanding the terrifying gravity of the situation.
"I have to go inside and manually trigger the self-destruct before he downloads the data," Stella stated firmly.
Jonah grabbed her hand, his intense dark eyes filled with absolute, unfiltered fear for her safety.
"Victor has at least thirty heavily armed men inside," Jonah warned desperately.
"It is an absolute suicide mission, Stella."
Stella offered him a fierce, determined smile, completely devoid of any hesitation.
