Chapter 12 - The Ghost Protocol

The Navarro estate was plunged into a state of highly organized, theatrical chaos.

Jonah’s most loyal remaining enforcers arrived to secure the premises and establish the narrative of his tragic demise.

They staged a violent crime scene in the grand bedroom, complete with shattered glass and a significant amount of fake blood.

Stella watched the meticulous preparations with a mixture of awe and deep apprehension.

"We have to make this completely convincing," Jonah ordered from his wheelchair, hidden securely in the secret underground bunker beneath the estate.

"If the cartel suspects a ruse, they will hunt you down for taking their money."

Stella paced the length of the bunker, the reality of her new alliance sinking in rapidly.

"My handlers will demand physical proof of the assassination," Stella warned nervously.

Jonah handed her a highly encrypted flash drive.

"This contains fabricated medical records, manipulated security footage, and a digitally altered autopsy report," Jonah explained.

"It will easily pass the initial scrutiny of their forensic accountants."

Stella pocketed the drive, realizing she was completely severing ties with her dangerous employers.

"Where are we going?" Stella asked, assuming they had to flee the city entirely.

"We are not going anywhere," Jonah replied, a cold, predatory gleam in his dark eyes.

"We are going to systematically dismantle the political corruption that allowed the cartel to operate in my city."

He pulled a detailed schematic of the city's financial district onto the large digital monitor on the wall.

"The cartel operates their illegal political contributions through a highly exclusive, private investment firm," Jonah stated.

"I need you to infiltrate their annual gala tonight and clone their master server drive."

Stella raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms defensively.

"I am an assassin, Jonah, not a corporate spy," she argued.

"You are whatever I need you to be to survive," Jonah countered sharply.

He gestured to a large, metallic wardrobe in the corner of the bunker.

"There is a designer gown, a forged invitation, and a specialized data-cloning device inside."

Stella sighed heavily, realizing she had traded one ruthless boss for an even more demanding one.

She opened the wardrobe and pulled out a stunning, deep crimson silk evening gown.

"If I get caught, the cartel will torture me for days before they finally kill me," Stella pointed out casually.

Jonah wheeled his chair closer, his intense gaze locking firmly onto hers.

"I will not let them touch you, Stella," he promised with absolute, chilling sincerity.
