Chapter 8 - The Billionaire's Sacrifice

"No!" Griffin roared, dropping to his knees beside the chair.
He immediately began performing aggressive CPR, pressing hard against Sloan's chest.
"Come back to me, Sloan," he begged with tears streaming down his face.
The twins stood nearby, holding each other as they watched their father fight for their mother's life.
Griffin breathed into her mouth, refusing to accept that he had found her just to lose her again.
He pumped her chest again, pouring all of his remaining strength into saving her.
Suddenly, Sloan gasped violently, her eyes shooting open as she coughed up water and air.
The blue antidote finally took effect, restarting her failing heart.
Griffin collapsed in absolute relief, wrapping his strong arms tightly around her trembling body.
"You found us," Sloan whispered weakly, burying her face into his wet shoulder.
"I will never let you go again," Griffin promised, kissing her pale forehead.
Hazel and Iris rushed forward, throwing their arms around their parents in a tearful, beautiful reunion.
The sound of massive police sirens filled the shipping yard as dozens of squad cars arrived on the scene.
The authorities immediately took Victor Sterling into federal custody for kidnapping and attempted murder.
Paramedics rushed onto the dock, quickly loading Sloan and the twins into a warm ambulance.
Griffin rode with them to the hospital, completely ignoring his own exhaustion and freezing clothes.
Within a few hours, the doctors confirmed that Sloan was going to make a full and complete recovery.
The poison was entirely flushed from her system, and the girls were perfectly healthy.
Griffin's lawyers successfully annulled Victor's fraudulent corporate transfer, restoring Griffin's massive billionaire empire.
Griffin sat beside Sloan's hospital bed, holding her hand while the twins slept peacefully on the couch.
He looked into her beautiful eyes and asked her the question he had wanted to ask ten years ago.

"Will you marry me?" Griffin asked, pulling a stunning diamond ring from his pocket.
Sloan smiled brightly, but before she could answer, the hospital room door violently burst open.
