Chapter 7 - The Race Against Time

Griffin hit the freezing ocean water with a brutal, bone-crushing impact.

He swam frantically downward, ignoring the burning pain in his lungs.

Through the murky water, he saw the heavy steel cage sinking rapidly toward the bottom of the bay.

Hazel and Iris were holding their breath, their terrified eyes staring up at him through the metal bars.

Griffin reached the cage and desperately pulled at the heavy steel latch.

The lock was jammed tightly, completely refusing to budge under his strength.

His lungs screamed for oxygen, but he refused to abandon his daughters.

He pulled a heavy tactical knife from his belt and wedged it directly into the locking mechanism.

With one massive, desperate push, Griffin shattered the lock.

He ripped the cage door open and grabbed both girls by their small life vests.

He kicked his legs powerfully, swimming toward the faint light at the surface of the water.

They broke the surface, gasping violently for the cold, salty air.

Griffin's mercenaries quickly pulled them out of the water and onto the safety of the concrete dock.

The twins clung to Griffin, sobbing uncontrollably as he wrapped them in thick thermal blankets.

"I have you," Griffin whispered, kissing the tops of their wet heads.

Griffin looked up and saw that his security team had successfully tackled Victor to the ground.

Victor was bleeding from a broken nose, screaming curses as the guards placed him in heavy steel handcuffs.

Griffin walked over to the chair where Sloan was tied and gently cut the thick ropes.

Her breathing was dangerously shallow, and her skin was completely ice cold.

He pulled the small glass vial of the blue antidote from his soaked jacket pocket.

He carefully administered the life-saving liquid directly into her mouth.

The seconds dragged on like hours as Griffin waited for a miracle.

Suddenly, Sloan's chest stopped moving entirely, and she released one final, terrifying breath.
