Chapter 4 - The Legal Battlefield

The video continued playing in Griffin's trembling hands.
Sloan's voice was weak, but her eyes held a fierce determination.
"Victor forged those marriage documents ten years ago to trap me," Sloan explained to the camera.
"I ran away to protect the twins because Victor threatened to destroy your company if I told you about them."
Griffin felt a tear slide down his cheek as he realized the massive sacrifice she had made.
She had lived in hiding for a decade just to keep him and his empire safe.
"The antidote to the poison is in a safety deposit box at the downtown bank," Sloan gasped in the video.
"Don't let Victor take my girls," she pleaded before the screen went black.
Griffin aggressively shoved the phone into his pocket and turned to face Victor's lawyer.
"This medical proxy is a fraud, and I am filing an immediate injunction," Griffin roared.
He ordered his massive security team to physically barricade Sloan's hospital room.
The social worker backed away, terrified by the sheer power and anger radiating from the billionaire.
Griffin knelt down and looked the twins directly in the eyes.
"I am going to get the medicine that will save your mother," he promised them.
He left the girls under the protection of his top bodyguards and rushed to the hospital roof.
His private helicopter was already waiting with the blades spinning loudly.
Griffin flew across the rainy city and landed directly on the roof of the downtown bank.
He used his massive influence to force the bank manager to open the vault at four in the morning.
He found Sloan's safety deposit box and smashed the lock open with a heavy iron tool.
Inside the box was a small vial of blue liquid and a handwritten letter.
Before Griffin could grab the vial, the heavy steel door of the vault slammed shut.
The lights went completely dark, plunging Griffin into absolute blackness.

A chilling voice echoed through the bank's intercom system.
"You really think I would make it that easy, Griffin?" Victor Sterling laughed.
