Chapter 4 - The Court of Public Opinion

The viral video spread across social media like a destructive wildfire.

Strangers from all over the country began leaving hateful comments on my personal Facebook page.

Some of them even found my home address and posted it publicly in the comment section.

Noah sat on my living room sofa, watching me pace back and forth with growing anxiety.

He asked if the police were going to come and take me to jail.

I knelt down, held his small hands, and promised him that the truth always wins in the end.

I refused to engage in a messy, public screaming match with Lauren on the internet.

Instead, Margaret and I took a much more devastating, legal route.

We delivered the official airport security footage to the Orlando Police Department.

The high-definition video clearly showed Lauren intentionally leaving Noah alone at the gate and eagerly boarding the plane.

The police immediately issued two felony arrest warrants for child abandonment and false reporting.

Florida officers were dispatched to the luxury resort where Daniel and Lauren were supposedly staying.

Margaret called me two hours later with an update that made my blood run cold.

The police had raided the hotel suite, but the room was completely empty.

Daniel and Lauren had abandoned their luggage, packed up Lauren's two children, and fled the property.

They were officially fugitives on the run.
