Chapter 10 - The Final Diagnosis

The federal agents tackled Daniel to the concrete floor, stripping the weapon from his hands before he could even blink.

Other agents swarmed the loading dock, quickly arresting the two fake orderlies and securing the seizing Officer Vance.

A tall FBI director approached me, lowering his weapon and flashing his official badge.

"Your nurse managed to get a brief distress signal out on the landline before he was captured," the director explained.

Paramedics rushed into the room, immediately taking over Emily's care and loading her into a secure federal ambulance.

Dr. Thorne was arrested in his luxury office upstairs, completely dismantling the corrupt hospital administration in a single night.

The memory card provided enough undeniable evidence to completely destroy the organ trafficking syndicate and freeze all their assets.

Weeks later, the horrific nightmare finally seemed like a distant, terrible memory.

Emily had made a full, miraculous recovery at a secure federal medical facility, keeping her arm and her life.

Daniel and his corrupt associates were all denied bail and were facing consecutive life sentences in federal prison.

I walked into Emily's private recovery suite to help her pack her bags, completely overjoyed to see her smiling again.

She hugged me tightly, thanking me for refusing to back down when everyone else looked the other way.

As I picked up her purse from the bedside table, it accidentally tipped over, spilling her belongings onto the polished floor.

A cheap, prepaid burner phone slid across the tiles and suddenly lit up with a new text message.

I picked it up to hand it to her, but my eyes caught the terrifying words glowing on the screen.

"Daniel took the fall exactly as planned, but the syndicate still needs the prototype," the message read.

"Deliver it to the drop point tonight, or Dr. Jenkins dies next."
