Chapter 8 - The Digital Ghost

Samuel’s vicious ultimatum echoed in the cramped car, leaving a heavy silence in its wake.

He had somehow tracked down Marcus’s younger brother to use as ultimate leverage against us.

"We have no choice but to walk right into his fortress," Marcus said, his voice cracking with fear.

I refused to let another innocent person suffer because of my husband's catastrophic mistakes.

"We are going to his office, but we are bringing hell with us," I promised, closing the laptop with a snap.

I sent a delayed, encrypted email directly to the Vega cartel's regional enforcer, detailing Samuel's exact location.

I included the financial ledgers proving Samuel had been skimming their money long before his offshore gamble failed.

We drove through the empty city streets, pulling up to the gleaming glass tower of Samuel's corporate headquarters.

The front doors were unlocked, and the security guards were suspiciously absent from their usual posts.

We rode the private elevator up to the penthouse boardroom, the tension suffocating us with every passing floor.

The elevator doors chimed and slid open, revealing Samuel standing at the head of the massive mahogany table.

Joyce was standing right beside him, gripping a terrified young man by the collar of his shirt.

"Cancel the bank freeze, Victoria, or the boy dies," Samuel ordered, pointing his gun at Marcus's brother.

I slowly walked into the room, staring my abuser directly in the eyes without a single ounce of fear.

"The freeze cannot be canceled, Samuel," I stated, tapping my watch.

Before he could scream at me, the private elevator chimed again, and the heavy doors slowly began to open.

Samuel turned around just as four heavily armed cartel enforcers stepped into the luxurious boardroom.
