Chapter 18 - The Bloody Ballroom

I stayed completely still beneath the heavy catering table, controlling my breathing as heavy boots approached my hiding spot.
One of the masked mercenaries kicked a nearby chair away and shined his bright flashlight directly under the tablecloth.
I lunged violently forward before he could raise his weapon, driving my ceramic knife deeply into his exposed knee.
He screamed in agonizing pain and dropped his heavy tactical rifle directly onto the blood-stained marble floor.
I quickly grabbed the dropped weapon, rolled out from under the table, and fired three precise shots into the ceiling.
The deafening roar of the heavy rifle echoed loudly, causing the other mercenaries to freeze in absolute shock.
Silas emerged from behind a massive marble pillar, his face completely twisted in a mask of terrifying, murderous rage.
He had quickly realized that Elena was actively orchestrating a violent coup right in front of his elite associates.
Silas pulled a silver revolver from his tuxedo jacket and shot one of Elena's mercenaries directly in the chest.
His highly trained personal security team finally breached the locked ballroom doors, flooding the room with heavy covering fire.
A chaotic, incredibly violent gunfight erupted completely, destroying the beautiful ballroom in a matter of seconds.
I used the absolute chaos to sprint toward the grand staircase, desperately trying to put distance between myself and the crossfire.
Elena saw me escaping and screamed in pure frustration, raising her weapon to take the fatal shot herself.
Silas coldly stepped directly into her line of fire, aiming his heavy silver revolver squarely at his eldest daughter.
He told Elena that she was a pathetic, massive disappointment who lacked the true vision to lead his empire.
Elena fired her weapon blindly in a fit of absolute rage, completely missing Silas and shattering a massive mirror.
Silas did not hesitate to pull his own trigger, shooting Elena directly in her right shoulder.
She collapsed heavily to the floor, dropping her weapon and sobbing uncontrollably as Silas's guards quickly surrounded her.

I did not stay to watch my ruthless biological father brutally discipline his treacherous daughter.
I sprinted down the dark hallway toward Silas's private executive office to initiate the final phase of my plan.
