The terrifying sight of the weapon caused the remaining family members to scream in sheer panic.
I immediately pushed all four of my children behind me, using my own body as a physical shield.
"Put that gun down right now, you absolute coward," I ordered him, hiding the massive terror in my chest.
Daniel simply aimed the barrel directly at my chest and smiled.
"I am the biological father on those court documents you so kindly provided," Daniel reminded me.
"That means I have immediate parental rights in the state of Colorado."
Margaret fell to her knees, weeping hysterically at the monster her son had become.
"Daniel, please, do not do this on Christmas," Margaret begged from the floor.

"Why don't you take a look outside, Kesha?" he suggested.
I slowly backed toward the window, keeping my eyes locked on his weapon.
When I glanced through the frosty glass, my heart plummeted into my stomach.
The massive lawn was completely empty.
My private helicopter was gone.
"I wired your pilot half a million dollars from my hidden offshore account ten minutes ago," Daniel explained proudly.
"He took off the second you walked through my front door."
A massive winter blizzard was rapidly sweeping down from the mountains, burying the roads in thick snow.
We were completely trapped miles away from the nearest town.

"Now, you are going to sign over full legal custody of the boys, and I might let you and the girls live," Daniel threatened.
Just as he stepped forward to grab Noah, the heavy front door suddenly burst open.
