Chapter 9 - The Fall of the Empire

The press room instantly erupted into sheer chaos as reporters scrambled under chairs and screamed for their lives.
Damian's hands shook uncontrollably as he aimed the barrel of the weapon directly at my heart.
"If I can't have the money, nobody gets to have a happy ending," he screamed with madness in his eyes.
Before his finger could completely squeeze the trigger, Alexander launched himself across the room like a guided missile.
He violently tackled his younger brother to the hardwood floor, knocking the gun loose.
The heavy weapon slid across the polished wood, stopping harmlessly against a reporter's camera bag.
A swarm of heavily armed federal agents, who had received my uploaded evidence, finally burst into the room.
They dragged a bleeding and sobbing Damian up from the floor and violently slammed him into handcuffs.
Two more agents grabbed Constance by the arms, dragging her away from the podium as she viciously cursed at them.
I proudly dropped the massive stack of financial documents and the secret DNA test directly onto the press table.
"Damian Prescott isn't even a legitimate member of this family, and neither of them has any legal claim to this child," I declared to the remaining cameras.
Constance stopped struggling against the agents and suddenly let out a cold, chilling laugh that echoed through the room.
"You are incredibly naive if you think this is over, Amelia," she sneered with venom dripping from her words.
She leaned forward, her eyes locked dead onto mine with absolute malice.
"The Prescott trust fund strictly requires a final signature from my late husband’s original attorney to be legally transferred to your child."
May you like
I frowned, knowing her husband had passed away over a decade ago.
"And unfortunately for you," Constance smiled wickedly, "that attorney died in a car accident just three hours ago."
